Firstly don't worry too much about it, you'll be fine long term.

What you need to do is continue working at retail but instead of applying for full time marketing jobs, you need to apply to marketing internships at places like startups. You can do this on indeed/escapethecity/etc. This will …

Advice on Developing an MVP

Mahad Al-Qumeri - 2 months, 1 week ago

I think this would be a great idea particularly for sisters. My sisters struggle to go to mainstream gyms & they struggle with understanding the theory behind how to lose fat/gain muscle (having a system where you have sister only PTs in only sister gyms would be a gamechanger imo).

As a…

it takes a village to bring up a boy, its super important IMO. I grew up in an area of London where there arent much somalis and I hated it.

Has anybody used a hagbad before?

Mahad Al-Qumeri - 2 months, 3 weeks ago

its usually done with our parents and their generation. the community is small & they are huge with respect so its very unlikley they'll run with your money. I'd personally never do it with people born here.

I've personally never done it, but my friends have and its been quite successful…

Is it wrong to be annoyed at my mum for sending money back home?

Mahad Al-Qumeri - 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Yes.

Your mum moved to this country for 2 reasons:

1. to give you a better life than she had

2. to improve the standard of living of her family back home

It sounds like shes doing both and insha'Allah she can keep on doing it

Also I've just realised that you mentioned you live in a Council Flat... if you've been living there for long, they usually will sell the flat to you for dirt cheap, so maybe you can save a bit more and buy your own council flat? I've been living at mine for 20 years and our council said they would…

How can I get hooyo to exercise?

Mahad Al-Qumeri - 3 months, 3 weeks ago

Take hooyo for daily or weekly walks? You guys can talk (which I'm sure she'd love to given you dont live with her) and walk for 40mins+. Walks are a lovely, underrated and conveinent way to exercise.

Also introduce hooyo to home-workouts? Buy some matts, make some space in the living room a…

Don't persaude her to do other things as she won't be motivated during the harder parts of her alternative degree.

What I suggest is that:

First, in year 13 she uses those predicted grades to apply to biomed at schools like St Georges. She will then be able to do graduate medicine or specfi…

How to improve networking skills

Mahad Al-Qumeri - 6 months, 3 weeks ago

You can skip the networking events and use LinkedIn to arrange coffees/telephone calls with lawyers 1 on 1 which is way more useful. Alumni will highly likely help you out but target everyone

Google - they do a top black talent programme which is a feeder for their engineering jobs which may be of interest to you

You’re gonna need 27k for the tuition fees (9k each year). Depending on whether if you move to London you’ll need money for rent, food and etc. Not sure how much this is as I don’t live on campus but it will be a substantial amount. LSE do give a bursary depending on your family income which …

Think about your own goals and what you wanna achieve long term, then work at the company now which will help you achieve that. If that means quitting your current job then so be it, the company won’t really care and will just replace you. In terms of making it work on your CV, given it’s only a fe…

Assuming you’re a Muslim, IBD roles are unfortunately haraam. There is too much interaction with riba as 90%+ of m&a transactions require raising debt. Some argue that boutiques aren’t haraam as its advisory only (and they don’t have the balance sheet to raise debt) but unfortunately boutiques will…
