There is ongoing research on this because it is evident that BAME are disproportionately affected. Many possible factors may be at play - lower socioeconomic status often lead to health inequalities, higher proportion of BAME have preexisting health conditions, large intergenerational households increasing spread, professions that inherently increase risk of exposure - healthcare workers, transport professionals, etc. Also poor access to accurate information in their native language that is also culturally appropriate.....the list goes on.
We await the results of the government-announced research plans
