What's the point of reading if you forget everything you read in about 2 weeks?

I can understand where you are coming from with this questions, but the purpose of reading isn't to memorise everything in every book you read. The purpose of reading is to connect the ideas on the page to what you already know.

Also when it comes to it, there is nothing to stop you from re-reading a book that you have enjoyed, as a lot of people also read books for enjoyment. Reading has numerous benefits, especially in this age where we often find ourselves on social media for hours on end and with some people finding it negatively affecting their attention span, I find reading a good way to almost build up that attention span as to get through the pages you have to simply sit somewhere and take the pages one at a time.
