Being an entrepreneur, in general, is far from easy. Once you add your other cleavages - woman, black, Muslim, it can feel close to impossible. Last year 2.2% of all venture capital funding went to women. On the ground, as I knock on hundreds of locked doors, I see how very true this is. That’s not encouraging, is it? But, being a woman has its strengths. We are more resilient, our companies have a 30% higher return on investment than male-owned companies, and we return money to our communities. I find solace in my mentors, in successful women who managed to break their glass ceiling. It makes me believe that it is possible. We just can’t give up.
