My wife and I are both from Pakistan but we met at university and have quite a lot of non-Muslim friends.
We've done the nikah already and are now planning on having a big party for all our wider circle of friends next summer.
We hadn't originally planned on having an open bar at the wedding. I mentioned this to one of my friends and he seemed surprised/disappointed.
Our families are religious but not especially conservative (bar a few uncles) so I'm wondering whether we should a) have an open bar but not pay for it b) have an open bar and pay for it or c) not have an open bar at all.
The venue is in the countryside which means it's already a bit of a journey for guests and there's nowhere nearby for them to get alcohol outside of the wedding venue
